Recently I built a new computer that includes a Sony Dual
Layer burner (specifically a SONY DVD RW AW-Q170A). I bought
it OEM in a district of my city where you can get all you need
to build computers and then some. No software was included
with this device.
This burner is very fast and works perfectly. It reads at
a phenomenally fast rate and burns DVD-R and DVD+R without
any problem.
My problem arose when I decided to burn movies onto a dual
layer disc. Apparently my OEM version of Nero does not support
Dual Layer (v.5.5.10.31 OEM).
I've been using pgcedit and ImgBurn to make dual layer movies
but I find it too complicated and prone to making mistakes.
For example, I tried burning a complete movie including all
menus and supplements but wound up burning just the menus
and supplements. Later, I was successful in burning the
movie but only stripped of the menus, etc.
I've considered upgrading my version of NERO but am not
entirely sure that the latest version of NERO allows for
burning movies onto dual layer. Does anyone here know
if NERO includes that?
your version doesnt ....the newer versions do , its on the nero website

Thanx for your reply. However, I've been to Nero's
web site and have not seen anywhere mention of dual
layer support in Nero 7, particularly for video,
which is what interests me the most.
Can you please point out for me exactly where it
says that Nero 7 supports dual layer for video?

I've got Nero 6 that came with my burner that I purchased over a year
ago, and it supports dual layer.

It does burn dual layer dvd's . If you go to smart start and select
make a dvd you need to make sure that down in the lower right corner
you have it set on DVD-9
Just my two cent's worth.
