I've recently been having trouble burning DVD+Rs with Nero and started
experimenting with other software. However I'm finding the best way to get
a disc that works on my home DVD player is to convert the AVI files to an
ISO file. Can anyone suggest the best software to use?

Indeed ImgBurn is a well liked program from a reliable
programmer.
While the replies so far address programs for burning ISO
disk images onto a blank DVD, some of the other implications
of the original post give me some pause.
"the best way to get a disc that works on my home DVD player"
Now that could mean that he wants to make authored DVDs, or
it could be that he has a DVD player that plays data files.
"convert the AVI files to an ISO file"
That raises a few questions as well. Does he really mean
that he is making a data disk with .avi files on it. Or is he
using a program that converts the .avi files into DVD
compliant MPEG then authors a minimal video DVD, and
just has producing an ISO file of its output as an option.
Converting an AVI audio/video file into an ISO disk image
file makes no sense.

I am still using the "combo", old but reliable,
DVD Decrypter & DVD Shrink (for "bought" DVD's) and
Divx ToDVD & CopyToDVD for d'loaded Divx/.avi/.mpeg's.
Slow maybe but just fine. I was also wondering about the "iso" file
bit.
I mis-read that part. :-(

I know. Doesn't make any sense to me either. But since Nero went belly up
or my DVD player's on the blink OR I'm using a bad batch of DVD+Rs the only
way I can play DVDs on my player is when I convert from an ISO file.
