Backing up DVDs with Dual Layer Media Help PLEASE!!
HI there... I recently picked up some dual layer discs. My intention
is to back up some of the dvds I frequently watch. I tend to watch
movies over and over. I just worry that eventually they will get
scratched or what not and I want to protect my investment without
compressing the video.
I have both DVD shrink, DVD Decrypter software, a Sony PCG-K33 laptop
and a Sony DRU-700A Dual Layer Burner. So I put the DVD I wish to
back up in the laptop DVD tray, but when ever I set the compression
setting in DVD Shrink to 'No Compression' I get an error message. I
would be happy to provide that if needed..
Anyhow, I've also tried to do a back up with DVD Decrypter. I am able
to get an ISO of the dvd I wish to back up; however, when I try to
burn it nothing happens. I tried to even burn it with Alcohol 120%
with no success.
Any suggestion as to why I can't burn this to my dual layer media?
I've tried 3 different programs with no success... In addition, I
have no trouble burning if I compress the dvd.
I appreciate any advice you can offer. If you need more details I
would be happy to provide it.
Re: Backing up DVDs with Dual Layer Media Help PLEASE!!
Papa,
I'm not sure your copy of DVD Decrypter will burn dual-layer discs.
Their new product is ImgBurn, and it will. You can get it at
Videohelp.com --> http://www.videohelp.com/tools/ImgBurn
"ImgBurn carries on from where DVD Decrypter left off! ImgBurn can
write most types of CD / DVD images and it supports all the latest
writers (including booktype / bitsetting on many of the major ones -
i.e. BenQ, LiteOn, NEC, Plextor, Sony). Create ISO's from files on your
hard disk, or burning them direct to a disc. You can even use ImgBurn
to erase/format your rewritable media!"
Regards,
Keith
