I don't have a RDR-HX715, but I have the same problem with my Toshiba
RD-XS34U. This is the response I got from Macrovision:
"At the current time we are not delivering digital data, this should
be rolled out in Feb., on or before the 17th cutoff date, so the
DTVPAL will not pass out data until then (please contact EchoStar for
any support issue with there box). We are still inserting data into
the analog feeds, but we have found many affiliates either testing and
or switching early to the digital feed that does not contain our data
at this time, this of course causing the outages that consumers are
experiencing."
Right now I'm trying to get the digital TVGOS by feeding it from a
DTVPal. Hard to believe no one's sending the digital guide yet.
related question: Why isn't Sony pushing the RDR-HX715 more or
promoting a follow-on device? a HDD/DVD recorder with built-in
tvguide negates the need for something from the cable or satellite
company.

In many markets CBS stations will be transmitting the digital TVGOS.
In many of the major markets, they already are. I've already used 2.1
in Chicago for my guide data when analog 11 PBS hickupped and stopped
providing data for a while.

I can't speak for "industry plans", but if your OTA recorder is
capable of receiving guide data from a digital stream, it should
continue to function as normal after the analog cut-off. Although
nothing in the documentation for my 3+ year old Sony HD DVR claims the
DVR will receive time and guide data from a digital OTA source,
experimentation by quite a few people show that it does with no
problems.
Your DVD recorder is analog only, so it will only be useful for
recording OTA after the cut-off if paired with a digital converter of
some kind. For the record, I used an analog Panasonic DVD recorder
for several years with an older Samsung SIR-T451 external HD tuner.
For recording once on a given night, it worked just fine.
I have a new Bravia Kdl52W4100 with the on screen Guide and according to the Sony agents in India it will not work with the Digital signals only Analog. I asked why they would build a new digital TV with features that only work with analog signals know that they were being shut down and I could not get any answers. And I thought Sony was supposed to be a quality company.
