When I burn a DVD+RW (plus) on my PC with Nero, my Panasonic stand-
alone DVD burner does not recognise it and shows "unformat" on the
display. It works well with the same parameters (same machine, same
burning settings, same media brand, ...) and a DVD-RW (minus) though.
Does anyone else have the same problem ?
My firmware version is 060404 (Benelux version).
To know the firmware version :
- While the device is in stand by mode, push 5 seconds on the 3
buttons "REC", "CH UP" and "OPEN/CLOSE" together. After 5 seconds the
service menu appear ("SERV" on the display).
- Press "61" on the remote control
- The display shows the firmware version, "060404" in my case, which
is April 2006 I suppose.
It is not clear which models can be affected by this problem, probably
DMR-EH65, DMR-EH56 which are from the same generation, but maybe more
recent models as DMR-EH57, DMR-EH67, DMR-EH575 or DMR-EH675.
Some forums users claim that it can be solved with a firmware upgrade,
but Panasonic keeps them internal and does not release them publicly
(contrary to Philips).

As far as I know the +r and +rw are quite recent additions to the
panasonic range of recorders. They would accept the -r and -rw and ram
discs. I don't know if there is a firmware upgrade which would solve
this or not. I think the american panasonic site does firmware updates
but only for american machines. You may be able to contact Panasonic
though and explain your problem and they might send a disc out with
firmware if available.

What you say is true, + media is new for Panasonic but the DMR-EH55 does
support it and should work. Metatech, I would suggest posting your
questions to the DVD recorder thread at http://www.avsforum.com/ There are
many Panasonic owners there and have been very helpful with problems I've
had with my E85.

I agree, I've often popped in there to keep tabs on what's happening
and look for hints.

I have the EH55, am very happy with it. I've burned and played back DVD+R
(DL) discs with it successfully (if you count a 40% failure rate, which I
attribute to the discs, not the EH55, a success). That said, I haven't
tried burning + media elsewhere and playing them back on the EH55.
