Panasonic DMR-EZ47VK - anyone know how to get component video hooked up?
Anyone know how to get component video working with Panasonic DMR-EZ47VK? My
cable guy couldn't figure out how to make the connections. All he got was two
side-by-side images in red and blue.
I'm using a Comcast-supplied Motorola DCT2500 cable box with the Panasonic
DMR-EZ47VK unit.

Well, if he connected the red plug to the red jack at both ends, and
similarly green to green and blue to blue, then either there's a
configuration entry you need to make on the DMR-EZ47VK (do it with
component or S-Video!) or the recorder is not healthy.
To my eyes, at least given the lighting conditions near my set, the
green and blue colors are hard to distinguish, and getting them mixed
up makes for a bad picture.

Turns out the Panasonic recorder was set to progressive scan and the Aquos
LCD TV is not compatible with that format. Turning progressive scan off fixed
the problem.

Sharp Aquos has no problem with progressive scan. More likely the
Panasonic disables component out if you use progressive scan
since PS applies only to AV and Svideo output.

Thanks for reminding me - I needed that :-)
