e85 to be my first try. Don't you wish that there were more sites
like that vassfamily page? It's fantastic.

**I'm in CT I have a friend who used to work as a repairman for
Tweeter. Now he's with an independent company that fixes electronics
so he has access to tons of diagrams/instructions on repairing
everything. His forte is TVs. I asked him about repairing the recorder
and he thinks it'll be a piece of cake. So, piddies crossed, I'll have
it done soon.

I'm still thinking of picking up some other DVD recorders. It feels
like they want to stop making standalone DVD recorders in favor of
VCR/DVD recorder units. I happen to think that those machines don't do
either (record with VCR/DVD) very well. The World Gift Center has
Pioneers and Panasonics with hard drives (as well as brand name VCRs)
but they are made for other regions (they still work here but are
usually minus a tuner). I'd like to try a Pioneer at some point or
even another Panasonic, they are really ideal for VHS to DVD.

Thanks. My weakest signal is 93%, with most of the rest 98/99 %.

I record to DVD-Ram, then use the computer to eliminate commercials
and transfer the programs to DVD-R.

As I said in my earlier post, this problem holds for models EZ-17,EZ-27, and EZ-28.
