I'm in the stone age WRT my TV system... Broadcast signal,
VHS VCR, no DVD player (only on my computer), etc.
Reading up on the DTV Converter box usage, I understand
that my VCR will not be usable for programming any longer
as it will get the signal from the DTV Converter box.
Am I correct with this?
If so, what options are available for programmed recording?
Will I have to go to cable/satellite TV? Are there any
HD DVDR that can convert analog-to-digital?

Ahh... Is the answer "ATSC"? i.e. find a DVDR with an
ATSC tuner?

ATSC is for over the air, QAM is for cable digital.
Of course you'll still need NTSC to pick up signals
from your old DVD player!

Thanks Rick. I think I'm going to have to do some
homework on how to deal with new and legacy equipment.
Any suggestions on some basics of digital TV, Blu-Ray, etc.?
How is avsforum.com?

Thanks. I just realized that what I really need
right now, instead of forums or newsgroups, is
to read something like wikipedia. Once I'm
somewhat up to speed, I can then post questions.
