I've never worked with video before other than simple joining of avi
and mpg clips.
I would like to attempt splicing into The Wizard Of Oz two scenes cut
from the film, the Jitterbug Dance and the so-called Triumphal Return.
Both of these excerpts are available as supplemental materials on
various DVD releases.
I plan to use DVD Shrink. I've already extracted the two excerpts and
trimmed them and extracted the complete film which I plan to split in
two places into which I'll place each excerpt separately.
My question is simply can I come here for advice if I need it (I
supect I will) or is there a site or other NG where I'd be better
assisted and less of a bother?
BTW, for those familiar with the film who may be wondering - the copy
of the film I'm working with already has the Busby Berkeley-Scarecrow
Dance restored into the film.

Well, that's only if you signed up for the Premium NG
Package. With the regular package you only get the
luck of the draw, there is no guarantee that you get a
reply at all, much less one that is actually helpful.
That said, it's been a slow month for those of us who
like to provide what help we can. We do tend to have
little time for those who can't or won't provide the
information needed to track down the problem. The
best thing is to think "Make & Model" and/or program
"Name and Version".
You should also consider that if you say "I'm going to
do something 'this way' and I will be using 'this program',
and I don't want to consider any other way of doing it"
then there is little anyone in the NG can do for you. It is
usually much better to describe what you want to
accomplish in the end, and allow for suggestions as to
the best way to get that you want as a final product.
It is not a bad idea to provide some indication as to
what you have on hand in the way of tools and
experience as well as what your budget might be for
the project, and any other constraints.
If you feel that being asked to provide information or
for you to try something (and report back the results)
is too much of a bother for you, or represents an
expression of us being bothered, then this kind of NG
might not be to your likening.
