I used to do lots more photography, even have schooling in it, but
it's be .... mmm... 25+ years (!). Retired my Canon AE-1 and got a
Digital Rebel a couple years ago. Haven't had too much time to shoot
since I have a very active son (who's in some of the shots). Anyway,
would appreciate any help or advice.

You have some good work there ... one that I particularly like is IMG_1076.
Your flash shots are hurting. If you are going to do a lot of that kind of
work, consider an external flash that is capable of bounce.
