Looking to pick up a Canon P&S and my usual vendor-- B&H-- is out of stock
on the model I want. Adorama has it-- but their reseller ratings are a bit
lower than B&H-- so I'm wondering...should I wait for B&H-- or give Adorama
a shot?

Adorama is fine, at least as a local store. I have no experience with
their mail operation.
J&R Music World is also very good but read the returns policy. It's
basically credit-only which isn't a problem for me becuase I
frequently do business with them and/or have a friend that is and we
can use the credit.

I would happily buy from B&H, Adorama, or Beach Camera (BuyDig.com). I
have been to all three of their stores.
Have you already tried Amazon? They have the best return policy, IMO. Just
make sure it is from them and not one of the third-party sellers.

Besides B&H, the other two very large names for the Net are Adorama and Ritz
Photo.
All three have very good service, and I have never seen or heard of any
problems in any of the Photo Newsgroups or Forums.

I'm in Australia and buy from Adorama in the US. I ordered
something on a Sunday and it arrived the following Wednesday.
Impressive. Never had a problem with them.

I consider B&H to be reputable source, but I've never bought from
Adorama. I've been pleased with the prices and service from both Ritz
Camera and Abe's of Maine. I don't necessarily recommend them to you,
but my experiences have been good.

I get my equipment from Unique Photo in NJ. They are large, but don't have
their web act together as much as other dealers. They still sell mostly

Adorama is generally recognized alongside B&H as a reputable dealer. I've
ordered many times from them and haven't had any issues. Note that they
follow a religion-guided schedule similar to B&H's (i.e. close early on
Fridays, closed Saturdays, open Sundays) regarding store hours and order
processing.

That is a loooong time ;-)
I ordered some lenses from B&H. 2 days later I got it delivered on the
door... in Norway.
