Tesco Technika 10mp lens noise

I've just bought a Technika SH-A366 10mp from Tesco.

I'm very pleased with the quality of pics, menus etc.

Slightly disconcerting that the lens make a graunching type noise near
the tight end of the optical zoom.

Is this a specific problem to my camera, or is it a generic problem ?

Anyone elso got one, and care to comment.

Doesn't appear to affect zoom operation, or picture quality.
