In most discussion about digital SLR cameras, people are referring to
either Canon or Nikon cameras as the standard level of good quality
products. There are also talks about Pentax, Olympus, Fuji and Sony.
However, Canon and Nikon appears to dominate the market for high
digital SLR.
My question is about Samsung digital cameras - GX10, GX-1S, GX-1L. The
perception about these brand name is relatively low. I knew that the
technology ofr Samsung is shared from Pentax cameras. However, when I
read articles on these cameras at dpreview, their ratings are higher
than Nikon, Canon or others.
Are these cameras worth to consider? Sometimes, a good quality cameras
has superior quality over time (fine things, like buttons, switches,
etc are designed more rugged than cheaper cameras). Would anyone
comment about long term use of these cameras?
I have a small Samsung digimax i5. It was rated as an average camera
(some considered below average). I like it because of its price and
size. So far, I am happy with this camera. I must have click the
shutter button over 1500 times within the past 6 months. It seems to
be an OK camera. Are samsung digital SLRs, however better than Canon
and Nikon? Is it better than its 'sibling",i.e. the Pentax ?

Nikon and Canon have been around a long time. Samsung makes good stuff too.
Brand wars are boring. If you like the feature set of a given camera and it
meets all of your present needs and gives some room for growth, that's all
that matters (assuming that price, warranties and company stability are also
decent).
