I'm trying to get my 5400 to download directly to the SmartDisk
Fotochute. The Fotochute is a tiny 20 gig storage device that
theoretically can be downloaded without having to go through a
computer which would be terrific for field work.
Re: NIkon 5400 direct download to SmartDisk Fotochute
Nope, but had the same claim for Samsung YH-J70J... got the run-around
from Samsung
for a month about alleged new firmware. Never materialized. Have given
up on that piece
of junk and now use Pine Photo Bank (30GB).
Waaaaaay faster and it does not crash on "HOST" mode with my D70s... but
you do have
to remove the flash card from the camera.

After a good solid charge, the Fotochute downloaded directly from my
5400 perfectly...though no help from Smartdisk if they still exist.
