Default Looking for comments of Canon G9 P&S

The G9 looks like the next camera for me. I like the idea of an
optical view-finder. This leica fan has lots of nice things to say
about the G9 but the optical view-finder is not one of them. He seems
to use the LCD display.

Can anyone add to this ?

Thanks

What are you using the camera for? The G9 is kind of expensive for a small-
sensor P&S camera, even if it does have lots of nice features. For about the
same price you can get a Nikon D40 SLR which will take better pictures in
situations when your lighting isn't perfect.

Consider the S5 that has a EVF or the somewhat less expensive Canon A860IS.  It is similiar to the G9 but does not have RAW or go as wide but does have LCD that allows for different positions that is very very handy.

Probably meant to say the Canon A650IS. No RAW, but swivel LCD, same
lens-sensor-stabilization-DIGIC III system.
IMHO the way to go, VERY nice camera with loads of functionality.

That is correct. It has a good enough build and about $100 less
expensive. The only thing I do not like about it is that it does not
come in black.
