Default How simple should the RC-1 (or an equivalent) be?

Camera: Canon XTi
Remote: Chinese knock RM-E1 an RC-1 equivalent.

Is operation not as simple as just pointing the unit at the front of
the camera, and pressing it's instant (or 2 second delay) button?

Nothing needs to be set first on the camera, right, other than turning
on the power and making sure the signal is withing angle and range,
no?

No. You have to make sure self timer has been activated on the camera

I KNEW I read something somewhere that was an extra step. It's not on
a page associated with the remotes, in the manual.. A BIG THANK YOU!
