IrfanView supports plugins, so you could always install the freeware Smart
Curves plugin (works in every editor I've thrown at it) and use the histogram
display in that. Granted, the histogram view is only a feature of using a curves
tool, but at least it's there, and you can do so much more with it once you
learn what a curves tool is all about. Much more advanced and capable than any
simple histogram adjustment tool.

TNX.
It does what I want, and more.

d/l the plugin from the URL and unzip it in a temp folder.
In irffanview;
Image/Effects/Adobe 8bf filters
The first time you do that, click on add and point to the temp folder.

That works, thanks.

Thanks for that info.
Also, Reindeer Graphics has a free PS plug-in called Wide Histogram.
It expands the histogram to 512, 768 or 1024 pixels wide. It's a
Histogram viewer and measurement tool only, it doesn't let you adjust
anything.
To install, put the WideHisto.8BF file in the Irfanview plug-in
folder, typically at:
C:\Program Files\IrfanView\Plugins
First 'activate' or 'load' it into Irfanview by going to Image/Effects/
Adobe 8BF filters, and click on Add 8BF filters.
Then to use it, highlight or select it and 'Start selected filter'.
