Hi,
Just ordered a Fuji F31FD which I hope is as good as all the reviews say. I
need to buy an XD memory card but am confused - I really would be grateful
for any help. I think type H is high performance - should I buy this instead
of type M for the camera. Also, the 2GB cards are now not much more than
1Gb. Would a 2Gb be ok or would it be slower - should I stick to 1Gb?? I see
lots of different advice. Many thanks for any help.

I use both Type M (2GB) and Type H (1GB) xD cards in a Fuji S5100
and haven't noticed any difference in performance. The type H cards
*might* be better if you use the F31fd for videos, but otherwise
they should perform the same. I've used type M cards for videos and
haven't noticed any problems or frame dropouts, but I haven't used
the camera very much for videos. All high res. 30fps, but no more
than 1/2 dozen taken, and the longest only several minutes long.
Thanks for the info guys - I have just found Fuji xD Picture Card - 2Gb
(Type H) on picstop for £18.99 delivered - so guess this is the one to go
for.

I've been shooting RAW files with my OLY sp350 and a type H card.
While all xd memory is slow compared to other formats, if you shop
around and find a good price you should go with H cards.
Also, the read/write specs are usually for newly formatted cards. So
when you've used the cards for a while, things will slow down since
images aren't written sequentially and the camera has to look around
for blank areas on the card to write the data.
