Help Needed! Online Printing Recommendation Please
I've been looking and looking and I can't find a thing. I've searched
all over this group and google, all to no avail. I feel as if I've
stumped the Internet.
All I want is a site that will print my images in a photo book and NOT
CROP THE IMAGES. Here's an example:
The only problem I have with this service -- and every other service
-- is that it makes me crop my images to fit their templates.
Templates are bad! I already crop my photos to the point that more
cropping will ruin it. I really don't get why you can't drag your
image onto a "virtual photo book" and resize the image by dragging at
the corner as needed to fit the page.
Does it exist? Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone else even
know what I'm talking about?!
Re: Help Needed! Online Printing Recommendation Please
The problem you're experiencing is that most digital cameras capture
images at a 4:3 aspect ratio, which is roughly equivalent to the
dimensions of a typical computer monitor. (Not the widescreen kind.)
But photos are typically printed at a 3:2 ratio, which is how you get
a full-frame 4x6 inches. (5x7- and 8x10-inch prints are already
cropped a bit from the 3:2 ratio.)
I know that on KodakGallery.com, you can deselect "crop and zoom" and
have your photos printed in the full 4:3 aspect ratio of your camera's
sensor. It will leave white edges on the sides of your prints. And
they'll appear smaller than a full-size image.
If you are using an image editing software like Picasa or Kodak
EasyShare, you can edit the photo for a specific print size yourself,
usually using the 'crop' feature in the software. Do this before you
upload, and you won't need to crop and zoom on the photo printing web
site.
Also, check out Adorama Pix or Mpix.com -- these sites cater to pros
and advanced amateurs, and may offer the solution you're looking for.
Good Luck.

Thanks for the replies but I still don't see what I'm looking for. I'm
starting to think I'm crazy. I don't get why you can't drag and drop
your pictures on to a "virtual page" and then resize (not crop) as
necessary to fit on the page. Does it exist? Anyone know?!
