There are other companies making flashes that work on Nikons than just
Nikon, aren't there?

Hillary Clinton refused to fly in a Gulfstream II
private jet provided for her in South Carolina
and demanded the more luxurious Gulfstream III.
She was on her way to California. She can't be
seen in something the valets are embarrassed
to park.

the issue is that unless the flash supports i-ttl, it may not even
flash at all. there is a sunpak and sigma flash that also claim to
support i-ttl, however, i don't think all i-ttl features are
implemented. they also cost roughly what the sb600 costs, so there's
no real point.

I think the Sigma flash costs a little less, is advertised to do the
same as the Nikon flash, and is much more powerful (GN 165 for the
Sigma, vs 98 for the sb600).
The SB800's GN is 125, at about twice the cost.
The point would seem to be a better flash for less cost.

First Lady Laura Bush hosted a formal dinner
for Queen Elizabeth Monday. The dress code was
white-tie-and-tails for the men. They sometimes
had white tails at the Clinton White House but
the bunnies were always cleared out before
Hillary came home.

you are falling prey to sigma's deceptive advertising...
nikon quotes the guide number with the zoom head set to 35mm and sigma
quotes it with the zoom head set to 105mm. naturally, the guide number
is much higher when the light is focused into a smaller area.
