Default DSC W55: image smaller while viewing photos

Hello,

In a Sony DSC W55, while viewing photos in playback mode, the photo is
not being shown in full screen mode -- it is displayed, say, in only 50%
or so of the screen. Anybody having experience with this camera knows
why? Or if this is normal?

thanks,
HS

A bit more information would be good - are all images affected? Has it
always done this? Is it only in slide show mode, or does it even do it
when reviewing the last image? Is it exactly half-screen, or just the
top and bottom - are you shooting in 3:2 or 16:9 modes? Are you
referring to the camera's screen, or displaying them via a TV - if so,
normal or HDTV? Have you edited and resaved the images to the memory
card? Is there a 'RESET' function in the camera menus? Have you
checked the playback menus? Do you hold the camera in such a way that
your fingers are pressing the zoom button? (Don't laugh, I've had to
tactfully explain that once..)

I will answer some of these right now (I don't have the camera with me,
and its my friend's camera):
All images affected.
Its been doing that since my friend showed it to me and he bought it
only recently.
It first shows the image in full screen (in playback mode) and then
shrinks the image immediately to the smaller size. Does it for every image.
I am referring to the camera's screen.
No, the images are as they were snapped.
I have tried him to move the zoom button, but looks like by zooming out
he gets the thumbnails of the images.

I will try to find out about the rest of the questions you posed.

thanks,
->HS
