Default downloading images to ipod and charging at the same time

i am leaving for holiday soon, using my ipod as a storage device for
my DSLR.

i have 1 gig cards and the ipods battery won't last to download that
much. so i need something where i can download and charge at the same
time. some split cable which goes to the camera and the charger.

i've been looking for it like a madman, but could not find anything.
does anyone know about such a thing or can put me in the right
direction, or has another idea to overvome this trouble.

cheers, dimitri

I don't use iPods so I don't know much about them, but how many
1GB cards can be transferred before the battery dies? I'd think
that the iPod's battery would be good for at least an hour or two of
transferring which should be good for dozens of gigabytes. If not,
maybe the DSLR is draining the iPod's battery? Assuming that the
iPod can't copy files from a card reader, Sima makes a USB Data
Transfer Device that appears to be able to do exactly what you want.
B&H has it in stock and this is their description:

Something like the Epson P3000 or P5000 might have more overall utility.

I don't know what size iPod you are using so this is relative. I use
my 60G, Color (not video) and can get a one G card to download twice
on a complete charge. It's best to let it cool down between
downloads. Camera to iPod speeds are USB 1.1 (about 35 minutes per
Gig, iPod to Laptop is full USB 2.O, 5 min per Gig, battery usage on
the iPod is very hard during download from camera) I looked in vain
for a pass through charger but I haven't looked lately, the other
poster's reference to the B&H device is unknown to me but at that
price I would look at investing in a dedicated Portable HD device. I
also looked in vain and tried various card reader to iPod scenarios
without success. I think getting power to the card reader is the
problem as the Camera provides it's own power and the ipod its, during
the camera to ipod scenario. if you already have the iPod you might
get some usage out of it depending on size but it is not a good
solution as a dedicated srorage device.

Don't use an iPod, but my Photobank is rated for 4hrs operation. It
takes about 8 minutes to load a full 2GB flashcard, so....
