Default Compare two Olympus Cameras, problem!

Some years back I purchased a 5mpx Olympus Camedia C50 and have been
thrilled with it. I thought it time to upgrade and purchased a new Olympus
FE210 at 7.2mpx. I compared the two cameras. The FE210 is a disaster. I
don't understand why.

I took a series of pictures, but a comparison of just one of each shows the
difference. If you would care to look, please see:
http://www.jnmoakes.org/Test%20Pics/C50%20006.jpg The Camedia C50
http://www.jnmoakes.org/Test%20Pics/FE210%20002.jpg The new camera.

If you look at the leaves silouetted in the sky and the ripples in the
water, the Camedia has captured them. The FE210 has not.
The color of the grass and flowers is markedly different.

These are un-retouched pictures.

Using Adobe Photoshop:

FE210
Pixel Dimensions 20.3M
Width 3072pix
Height 2304pix
Document
Width 9.783in
Height 7.338in
Resolution 314pix

C50
Pixel Dimensions 14.1M
Width 2560pix
Height 1920pix
Document
Width 17.778in
Height 13.333in
Resolution 144pix

My questions:
Why is the resolution (focus) bad?
Why is the color saturation inferior?
Why is the 7mpx picture smaller than the 5mpx?
Is the new camera faulty?
Are ther some settings I should change?

Thank you,
Martin

The old one uses a larger sensor and has fewer pixels, which are much
larger than the CRAP sensor (most worthless P&S have the same ones
today) in the new one. You can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear,
which is what the endless Chinese mills churning out cookie cutter
P&S's today are not even trying to do.
Beware of anything with the worthless 1/2.5" CCD in it.

Does the focus work? Maybe the lens is defective?

No, this looks like a lens problem. Plenty of respectable cameras have
a 1/2.5" CCD.
