Default Cheapest European country for cameras?

I shall be visiting two or three different European countries in the
next few months. Are there any countries which are significantly cheaper
for digital camera purchase than "rip-off Britain"?

According to eBay auctions, Romania has a lock on cheap cameras.
Bulgaria comes in a close second.

THIS IS A SIG LINE; NOT TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY!
The White House gave John Kerry's
campaign nemesis Sam Fox, who funded
the Swift Boat Veterans, a recess
appointment to Belgium on Wednesday.
Nothing ever changes. John Kerry
insisted he was for the appointment
before he was against the appointment.

Price is not everything. Delivery is also part of the equation.
Since those low-low price Romanians and Bulgarians have no intention
of ever delivering a camera after you've paid, the value is not as
great as the price tag may suggest.

But if you Brits want to buy from Romanians, you can do so on your
home turf!

The fine company Pactelect.co.uk pretends to be located in 54 Oakwood
Avenue, London, N14 6QL (it is not), and its Romanian management is
happy to sell you a Canon EOS 5D for the low-low price of EURO 1257
(US$ 1690). They will never deliver it, of course, (they are very
good at ignoring you after you've paid your money) but if all you want
is a very low price - there you are.

Please read the OP Gisle.

He will be visitting the countries in question so delivery isn't an issue.

Am I to assume you got stung by the outfit mentionned above?

I was attempting humour.

Bill Funk referred to the (buy-it-now) prices quoted by Romanians
selling brand name DSLR cameras on eBay. If you buy from those
Romanians on eBay, delivery certainly is an issue. That is why
they're able to sell cameras so "cheap".

I should have known better than attemting humour on Usenet, so
here is what I should have written to the OP:

Neither in Romania, nor in Bulgaria, can you buy genuine brand name
cameras at a substantial discount compared to Britain. The Romanian
vendors on eBay isn't delivering any cameras, so the prices you see
in those eBay auctions bear no relation to the prices you will see
in a reputable high-street shop when you actually visit Romania
(or Bulgaria).

No, but I've blogged about them, and as a result I've received a lot
of email from a number of people that are EURO 1257 out of pocket and
wondered if I can suggest a way to recover the funds (unfortunately,
I can not).
