I ordered a SD870 from Amazon. It came in open box. Inside the box,
the manuals are sealed. All other stuff are in individual plastic
bags but the camera is in an open plastic bag (with tiny foam
inside). There is no plastic film on the LCD screen. I am wondering
if it is a returned product.

That seems to be the way digicams are shipped these days.

What was the filename of the first picture you took? If it ended with 0001,
you're probably OK

I bought an Rebel Xsi that I thought was used, I wrote Canon since my
Lcd had no protective film also, on the Xsi Canon said it was shipped
with protective fim, Write or call Canon, my box was unsealed canon
said that was normal. I returned my camera since I had other issues,
25% bad auto focusing.

Agreed, but check file number reset is set to OFF. This is default on my
A95 so I imagine other canons are same.
I'm not sure what Amazon (or others) do with returns. I just returned a
GPS unit for very low sound prompts which sort of makes that type of
thing pretty useless. Hopefully it was returned to manufacturer.

Thanks Irwell, J.H., ransley, and Dave. I also checked the file
names. The first file ends with 001. Amazon has good return policy
but I think I am going to keep it.
