Default Canon S3 IS off camera flash.

Hi all,

I'm considering buying a Canon S3 IS and am very interested in
occasionally using an off camera flash. Can this be done with the S3 IS
through a PC flash (or ???) connector?

My Olympus (C-700 UZ), at least, won't sync with another unit that
incorporates a slave. It appears that it uses a pre-flash of some sort
that triggers the slave unit too early.

Thanks much,

Perk (:>)

Can't you disable the preflash?

There is a wein slave device that will skip the pre-trigger and trigger
on the next flash.

Thanks to both of you, I guess I just feel it's time for a new camera
but would like to be able to use off camera flash conveniently.

Canon has a dedicated external flash for the PowerShot cameras. See it here:

You might also download the S3 User Guide (advanced version) and check page
143.
