Default Canon A630--what is this symbol?

On my screen, when I zoom and depress the button half-way I get a flashing
icon in the lower right corner. It is red, looks like a lobster. It occurs
about 90% of the time when I try and do a zoom shot (auto mode).

Can someone enlighten me as to what is going on?

(Sometimes the picture comes out okay and sometimes it doesn't)

Mel

Ah, the lobster warning icon, meaning there may be a lobster behind you.
Look out!

I think you mean the camera shake warning. It means the camera has
picked a slow enough shutter speed that the image may be blurred. See
page 14 of your "Advanced Camera User Guide".

(This is an example of where icons fail--some things just don't
translate well to graphics. The words "Slow Shutter" would have more
meaning.)

It's telling you that it's time to take your wife out for a seafood dinner.
