Canon 570IS zoom sounds overly noisy -- normal?

Hi all,

Reviewers say the 570-IS is a great value. But when I compare
the sound of its zooming in and out to my 4+ year old Canon A70,
something sounds all wrong. There are several metallic scraping
sounds coming from the 570 during zooming. Is that normal?
