Sigma 17-70/2.8-4.5, superb imaging at modest cost. Many
Pentax users (including me) use it, nothing bad to say about
it... unlike some other Sigma lenses :-(

You want good lenses otherwise your image quality suffers. For wide angle I
would look at the Pentax 10-17. It is a fisheye but a 180 degree view at
10mm is just incredible and the fisheye effect can be quickly fixed in
Photoshop. As for medium zoom take a look at the Pentax 50-200. It is a
wonderful lens for the money.

That 50-200 is indeed a good buy. Filippo, if you already have the kit 18~
55 lens, the best inexpensive wide-angle is the wonderful Russian Zenitar
16mm F/2.8 (but NOT autofocus!) from eBay... it seems so wide you'll
probably never want to spend much more money for a lens only a few mm
shorter. It is a bit wider than the Pentax 16~45mm, which I also have.

I'll second that. The Sigma 17-70 and Pentax 50-200 make the cheapest high
quality combo around.
