Why can't you upgrade memory or hard drive in the config screens? Also, why
can't we opt out of the Adobe suite for a credit? If/when these make it to
the vostro line and the costs are reduced somewhat, I can see them taking
over our office (and my home).
i assume that you are referring to the "xps one" scheduled for release on
the 19th and leaked to the public a few weeks ago... http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/23/d...h-out-gateway/
not sure how you know what configurations they are offering, but if they are
trying to make the buying decision simple as well as give themselves an the
ability to get them out the door quickly (ie have them pre-built) then they
understandably would mimic the apple model and not offer lots of
configuration choices.
my question is why they are calling it 'beautiful'
(www.dell.com/welcomebeautiful). to each his/her own... but the recent
gateway all in one is a much more attractive design, and the new imac is
both elegant design esthetically as well as technically (has been out a
couple of months yet has a much better video card then the what dell has
chosen to put in this new machine). why anyone that wants something like
this doesn't just get an imac and install windows themselves (if the must)
is the question..

It's interesting, but I'm not sure I consider it a real successor to the
M2010. The M2010 is huge, but it DOES close up into a carryable
computer. I don't think the new one does.

You're right. The extremely low-profile keyboard is flat and the
unit/screen has a large pedestal.
Successor was probably a bad choice in terms. I'd assumed they had stopped
selling the M2010 and were now selling the XPS One - as their featured
boutique-type system.
