Default xps 1530

well after only having my xps for three days it has crashed. it even locked
up and had to be restored to factory default on the first day. tech support
couldn't do anything even after controlling my machine through the safe
mode. now I can't even go into the safe mode or restore to default. it took
quite a bit of searching for the proper person but they are shipping me out
a replace unit some time within the next week or so. this after I finished
customizing it with programs that my daughter will use in hat it's for her.

I hope that the replacement takes care of all my problems.

anyone ever run into a problem with an out of box failure?

Ron

Hi,
It happens. I got a Dimension C521 in March of '07 through the outlet. It
would blue screen at will even when it was idle. I messed around with it
for a week before deciding the video card (256MB ATI Radeon X1300 Pro) was
at fault. When I called Dell the guy suggested a replacement video card but
I didn't want to mess with it and returned the C521. Sometimes things just
don't work... Dean

I don't understand why you call this an "out of box failure" when you
say you had customized it with programs your daughter will use. Could
it be something messed up with those programs?

no because it doesn't work more than a day. that to me as out of box
failure. also you can't even restore it to factory default or go into safe
mode.

Read the user forums on CNET regarding the XPS laptops. There was
recently a XPS M1330 and M1530 on Craig's List, both would sell for
$600 -- I was tempted but decided not to get one.

I negotiated down to $500 on the M1330 but opted out after seeing the
quality control problems. The person avoided questions about whether
it made the infamous whining sound or the noisy hard drive or the
noisy CD drive (atypical noises).
