A remeber reading that the XPS 410 uses the Intel 945 chip set - I do not
beleive this will support the latest Core 2 Duos.

I guess I'm now uncertain

right. it is a 965 chipset. i am not certain but i would hazard to guess
that it would support the e6750. a bios update may be necessary (one as
recent as three weeks ago). the bios released about 3/2007 specifically
stated it was to provide additional cpu support. that was about the time of
the e6750 release if i remember correctly. perhaps dell just didn't offer
the 6750 because of pricing, availability, or needed to create a new part
for additional cooling. or perhaps it just doesn't work in there... let us
know the results if you try it.

It is the 965 chipset but does not appear to handle the 1333MHz
front side buss needed to for the E6X50 chips. They should work
but only run at 1066. I have a E6750 on a 965 chipset which does
allow the 1333 MHz buss so runs at full speed 2.66GHz on another
965 that does not support the 1333 MHz the CPU runs at 2.13GHz.
The only saving grace is the E6750 is cheaper than the E6420.
Art
PS Very few 965 boards allow the 1333MHz buss and even fewer
945 boards. I have a 945 ASRock that does allow the 1333MHz
and was using the E6600 CPU. There was a slight increase in speed
but nothing to write home about. (Cut 8sec off a 4min process).
I ordered a Q6600 instead. Better safe than sorry!
