Warranty if Add RAM

If I add RAM to my Inspiron 700-m laptop would that void the warranty?
What if I add RAM sold by Dell, but it's much more expensive than elsewhere?

You can add any memory you want without affecting your warranty. If it
doesn't work, Dell would require you to remove it before supporting you.
