Default Wake up problem

Recently my XPS 600 XP Pro machine has repeatedly failed to
come back to life when I move the mouse.

I had the power settings turning off the monitors and hard drives.

Any clues why that would suddenly start happening and how to address
it? I changed the settings to leave on the hard drives and monitors,
and perhaps that will fix it, but it is not a desirable method.

Thanks in advance,

I always hit the shift key. Not that it will solve your problem.

I tried almost every key on the keyboard, and of course the mouse. I also
tried turning on an external drive. Nothing brought it back to wakefulness.

Thanks,
