Default Vista SP1??

Any rumors on when the first Service Pack for Vista will be out, I hear it
will fix a lot of problems and make it faster(it definitely needs a shot of
adrenalin)...

Probably right after they finish XP Service Pack 3, which is badly needed.

I just read this morning "early 2008" , likely the first quarter. As
to fixing a lot of problems, we'll see and hope . I myself am
waiting till SP1 before I'll even attempt to switch to Vista. I'm
still reading as of yesterday a lot of users still do not like Vista
tho several here don't seem to mind it. I can't say who is right
since I have no Vista experience.

Honestly I do like it, my main complaint is it is slower then XP Pro, not
watching the grass slow but slow enough that I see the difference the first
couple weeks but like anything else once you use it all the time you forget
about it. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who haven't had any driver or
program compatibility problems, nor any crashes(haven't seen the blue screen
of death since leaving XP). I've been running a dual boot with XP Pro on one
HD and Vista on the other since early spring and haven't found the need or
want to boot over to the XP HD in months, actually any day now I will format
the XP HD and use it as my backup since I really see no need for dual
booting anymore, I'm pretty much committed to Vista now, I was pretty leery
at first but have gotten to trust it, not to mention it's so **** pretty
LOL...

I agree.

Two of my computers came with Vista pre-installed. One with Vista Basic and
one with Vista Ultimate. If you have enough horsepower, it seems to be fine.

Good point joe, I forgot to mention I did have to up my memory to 2gig after
installing Vista, it seems to like at least 2gig.. which is no problem since
memory is so dirt cheap these days...

vista really runs well on a core 2 quad with 3 gigs of ram and a 8800gt.
Not mine but my friends and horsepower is exactly what it needs.
I read somewhere that MS may release the SP1 late first or early second
quarter 08.
That should be an interesting download.

Current MS Statements are a target of 1Q08. They are still in the
testing stages, so a firm date does not exist.
