Default Video card for Optiplex 745

Hello,

I have an Optiplex 745 wiith a Radeon X1300 card. I wanted to improve
the performanced and I was advised to buy a better card.

I choose a card based on a nVidia 8600 chipset, but unfortunately I
picked a card taht needed a double slot and I had to return it to the
shop.

Before I make another mistake, could someone in this group advise me
about a good video card for my system, taking unto account that I am
not a big gamer

Thanks.

This link (if it works right) should place you on the 8600 page over at
newegg.com. I'd advise you to note the number of user reviews and scores,
view the photos of the cards (to insure it doesn't require two PCI express
slots / SLI ) and also the prices.

Note that most of these are active/fanned heatsinks (noise, etc.). Some of
these cards are SLI compatible, which only means that they can be used on a
2-slot SLI board - not that they require two physical slots.

This site/vendor is excellent and has excellent credibility in this group
and elsewhere. I've used them for over 5 years.

Hope this helps -

Stew

PS - My post assumes that your Optiplex 745 is the full-sized mini-tower and
is not the desktop or small form factor version of that model.

It should be a mini tower (roughly 40 cm high)
