upgrading laptop's hard drive in Dell 640m and E1405
Will the same hard drive work in a dell 640m vs. E1405 (I'll check the
specs but I'm not sure it will answer this) ?
Any recommendations if I want to increase the hd size in both? I'm
thinking of at least 80 gb in the 640m and 120 gb or greater in the
E1405. I don't think I need the 7200 rpm hd unless the cost is almost
the same. Any good source for these drives on line (newegg??).
thanks.

Re: upgrading laptop's hard drive in Dell 640m and E1405 <<< I meant 600m not 640m ; Sorry about that.

Re: upgrading laptop's hard drive in Dell 640m and E1405
i'm 99% sure the hard drives are NOT the same.
the e1405 is SATA.

They're different. 600M is IDE, E1405 SATA

Re: upgrading laptop's hard drive in Dell 640m and E1405
I'm not sure if the 640m might have an IDE drive, but I'm pretty sure
that the E1405 is SATA. Except for this interface question, all 2.5"
notebook drives of the same interface type are pretty much
interchangeable. Thickness used to be an issue, but all modern drives
are 12.5mm or less (virtually all less).

Thanks. And my mistake 640m should read 600m as your answer seems
to address already.
