Well, that depends on what you want to with it. If you want to play some video
games with a very fast frame rate, it is a boat anchor. If you need to do
intensive scientific or engineering computations, it is a boat anchor. If you
need to prepare office documents, send email and browse the internet, it is an
extremely servicable boat anchor.
If you don't want that boat anchor, send it here. I'll find a good use for it,
and pay for the shipping plus something modest for your time... Ben Myers

Got a 250Gb for it at £50 and it alone seems to have speeded things up
and provided a lot more space for the important things, like music and
pictures! Also started copying over tv programs I want to keep from my
PVR.
btw The machine is perfect for home use as are all Dells in that price
range, whether they be 2-3 yrs old or brand new. Forget the term "boat
anchor". A lot of older machines can still prove useful at home with
the right tweaking. Why spend £3 - £400 on a new PC when all you are
doing at home is browisng the web, storing pics/music and sending a
few emails! I don't even play games on it.
I just spent £50 and extended the life of my PC for a good while yet.
No need to rush to upgrade just because the corporations say you need
to!
Exactly! Memory and hard drive upgrades are very cost effective. BTW, I was
somewhat sarcastic using the term "boat anchor". I sell a lot of computers new
and used considered to be boat anchors by hard core gamers and other absolute
speed freaks, and my clients are unanimously happy with them... Ben Myers

p.s. Wasn't aiming the "boat anchor" comment at any particular person
or post on here. Just think there is still life in an old box if you
know how to use it, like you said they will be enough for most people.
