Trouble with Dell Bluetooth headphones

I have had very mixed results with these. I can get them paired OK, but
reconnecting them is very problematic (for my daughter at college). Anyone
encounter this? It's an Inspiron 1720 with the Dell Bluetooth and Vista Home
Premium.
