sound problems with a dell inspiron 640m

Hello.

Are there any other people out there who have problems with the audio
on their dell laptop?
Often it refuses somehow to play audio over the line-out (the place in
the laptop where you plug in headphones). Also, another issue that is
kind of weird is that sometimes it happens that I enter an SD card in
the laptop and it isn't recognized somehow as a removable disk.
I'm a bit puzzled by these problems and was wondering if other people
had encountered the same problems or perhaps found a solution.
