I agree - it's all a bit suspicious but this system has always done strange
things. Nothing concrete except after having worked in computers with many
years, you kind of know when something doesn't feel right.
We're not getting any errors in the log and can't see on screen and it never
responds to alt-ctrl-del to get the login prompt back. You can ping it but
that's about all.
I tried Windows 2003 standard yesterday and it blue screens very early on
during the installation - where it says "Windows loading" after loading the
core drivers and files. However, I'm not sure that the nForce chipset is
supported on Windows 2003 as there are no Windows 2003 drivers on either
Dell or NVDIDIA's website.
well as you know, you need to get the right sata drivers for the system.
the ctrl-alt-del sounds like a group policy that is turning that feature
off.
have you tried the XP sata drivers at the f6?
