Yeah, I get that, I just don't think the name makes any more sense than
Turbo Cache or Hyper Memory.

Yeah. Just a 'trademarked' way to indicate software RAID controls, I guess.
Marketing departments. 'Nuff.

Shame on you. You're both old enough to have learned the facts
of life. ;->
Since when did marketing hype ever make sense? Claims, names,
everything connected with someone trying to sell you something
requires use of a skeptical eye. The more nebulous the name, the
more skepticism is called for. As far as claims, Caveat Emptor
has never been more necessary. Those '50s gray flannel suits on
Madison Avenue couldn't hold a candle to the 21st Century
merchandizers today.

Wow. thanks Tom, and Stew and Rnr. i saw the matrix thing and never
would have guessed that it was for that. even after reading the
descriptions. i assumed it wasnt it when i read the insstructions and
it said to download it and run it against your current installation,
blah blah, and all i wanted was a handful of files to throw on a floppy.
now if i only knew which version...
That's what i say, learn something new every day.
Thanks again.

I've heard XP SP2 comes with SATA drivers. You should be able to
slipstream SP2 and create a new install CD. GITF.

"Turbo" & "hyper" are advertising terms, e.g., "new & improved!"
(supposedly a great draw). Anyone old enough to remember Peanuts in the
50's might remember Lucy's "hi-fi" jump rope, which caused Charlie Brown
to wander around saying "How can a jump rope be hi-fi?"

The PC is still causing problems. We were using it as a server to host
several pilot/test VMware virtual machines and they were working fine.
However, we were also using it for Backup Exec backup-to-disk folders and
the entire system keeps crashing during a backup. Running the VMs is fine
which is strange as they use a lot more resources than a simple file access.
I'm about to rebuild it with Windows 2003 Server to see if we were asking a
bit too much from Windows XP.
i'm very surprised at the crashing... you should get to the bottom of
it. what message was on the blue screens??
that could be a memory issue, and the original cause of your earlier
problems.
the xps720 that i gen'd with XP has been flawless.

In our world dominated by marketeers and other spin doctors, I often wonder what
the ad or the product name has to do with reality. I suppose that is
intentional, to confuse us all... Ben Myers
