I would like to add a 500gig Sata drive in the second bay of my dimension
4600. looking in the handbook I see there are two serial ATA connectors
fitted. Can I do this and if so would some kind soul give me step by step
instuctions
The 4600 requires a metal drive tray for the second drive, if it does not
already have one. Check inside. You also need 4 mounting screws for the
drive, and an SATA cable, normally packaged with a retail drive. Really not
much to do except put the drive in the tray, put the tray in the computer,
connect up the SATA cable and go. Make sure you unplug the power cord when
working inside a computer... Ben Myers

And I'd only add remember to check the *bottom* of the chassis for the drive
cage securing screw (the docs mention it and it may or may not have them) as
you can't get the drive cage/tray out w/o removing those screw(s).....
Roy,
You may also need to purchase a adapter for the power supply, such as the
one listed here, if it does not come with the HDD. Your local computer or
electronics store should be able to sell it to you.

You're exactly right, sir. I don't ever recall having seen a 4600 new with
SATA power connects.
