If the original partitions are intact, try CTL+F11 at the Dell splash screen
(at power on).
If it had XP it had a restore partion originally. If the partition is still
intact you will briefly see a blue bar across the top of the screen during
the boot with "Dell" in white letters. You have to do the Ctl+F11 when you
see the blue bar. You have to do it quickly.
