Default Removing Mcafee from a Dell E510

I'm probably brain-dead, but I just want it gone.

F8 into Safe Mode and then go to:

start>>>run>>>type in "appwiz.cpl" (no quotes)>>>then highlight and remove
any McAfee security/spam/firewall entries you might find there.

You're not alone in wanting it gone.

Post back here if you want recommendations for a few good free anti-virus
and firewall programs if you need them. Plenty of people here who'll be glad
to help.

Start>All Programs>McAfee --- Uninstall

If there is no uninstall option available from the Start menu, then you will
have to go into Control Panel>Add Remove Programs.

Do not just start deleting folders in the McAfee directory. You can also
just go to the McAffee website and find instructions, if not a removal tool,
there.

I'd like to thank both Kevin and S. Lewis for the input. Neither works.
There is no entry in "All Programs" and the desktop icon doesn't have one
either. CP>Add/Remove Programs has only Adobe DirectX and Reader. Nothing
else.
Regedit doesn't really appeal to me, but - what the heck.

Whoa, cowboy. Before you do that, why not try a removal tool like Kevin
suggested from the McAfee website?

Then if that doesn't work you can start ripping out the plumbing. g

the mcaffee removal tool should work.

you can also try the decrapifier
http://www.yorkspace.com/pc-de-crapifier/
takes out all crap from a system.
works very well.

also use hijackthis to disable the mcaffee programs from startup if you
still need to clean up more.

exactly what mcafee product do you want to uninstall.
mcafee's site can be overwhelming but it has removal instructions for all of
their products (including instructions for manual removal if necessary)...
here's my guess of what you have... security center 2007... and a link to
uninstall instructions...
