Default Ram speed?

Could anyone tell me what speed of memory is in a Dell Dimension 9200
please?

Am I correct in thinking the FSB speed is the same as the RAM speed?

Thx.

J

Default Re: Ram speed?

the dimension 9200 uses pc2-5300 or pc2-6400. there are four memory module
sockets and for best performance memory should be installed in like pairs.
each socket can accept a maximum size of 1gb for a system total up to 4gb.
bus speed does dictate the speed at which the memory will run, and the
specific type of processor install dictates the bus speed. so buying memory
that is faster than your bus speed is currently operating at does not make
the memory any faster. if you were having trouble finding the documentation
on support.dell.com you will not find it under desktop-dimension but rather
desktop-xps-410/9200. here is a good quality 1gb module for $26 each
delivered.
