It's located in:
C:\Documents and Settings\My name\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
Files\Content.IE5\Y7XJ94FG\all[1].html
It says it can't heal it.
Any advice on what to do now? I am using XP HOME.
I googled it and I'm not really getting answers on what to try.
BTW, when I go to Windows Explorer, I can't even get to Content.IE5. It
stops at Temporary Internet Files. How do I get there (it is set to show
hidden files)?
UPDATE:
I was able to get there by going into command prompt. (The DIR command did
not show the folders, but I was able to use the old DOS CD commands to keep
going)
I was then able to delete the file. Does this mean it is truly GONE?
I re-ran AVG for the Temporary Internet Files and it seems to be okay; no
threat found.
I'm going to reboot and at least run AVG again for Temporary Internet Files.
Any reason why I can't get to the aforementioned area via Windows Explorer?

A simpler solution would have been to open IE and clear your cache.
Those temporary files can just be deleted that way.
As for Explorer, yes, it's considered a system folder, so it is well
hidden. You can go into Folder Options and turn on hidden system files,
but that's pretty dangerous.
Next time you see a virus, clear you IE cache first.
I have Windows Explorer set to show hidden files and hidden system folders,
but I still can't get to contentIE5

There's a reason that I don't recall. I suspect a search on the MS

First thing I do, setting up a new laptop. So far the danger has escaped me.
But then I don't delete stuff whose purpose I don't understand, unless it
has pretty clear don't-care ownership.

I think it is not really gone but in your recycle bin. Now just empty
your recycle bin and I think you're fine. You might consider if you
are paranoid still, to use restore points or a backup if available.
Further, I think since it's a temp file, there should be no problem
deleting it as far as the system is concerned.
I'm not sure clearing the cache would have worked, since this virus seems to
be buried in a hidden system folder within Temp Int Files.

I believe it's indeed gone, or at least the file AVG located.
This doesn't address the possibility that it could still exist within his
'system restore' points/files. The only way to know that for sure is to
disable system restore (losing all your restore points) and re-scan the
entire system.
Once clean, he could re-enable system restore and manually create a "clean"
initial restore point as both a safety measure and point of reference.
