you won't have a problem installing a 750gb sata drive in your optiplex 755.
i believe the reason why dell only offers a maximum of a 250gb drive is
because the machine is targeted to large business and governments and
between the fact that they don't really need large disks in their networked
workstations and that they have to certify compatibility and maintain
inventory of replacement parts they just decided not to offer the large
drives. you may want to just add the 750gb drive as a secondary disk and
can use redirection so that 'my documents' refers to a folder on the new
drive. alternatively you can clone your current drive to the new and then
just replace the old with the new... good luck.

I was also thinking that was the reason they don't offer anything bigger.

Thank you. I'm going to keep the one it came with as a back up. I'd like to try a fresh
install of XP Pro. There's something flaky about it the way it is and I can't figure out
what's wrong. It won't let me access a site that works fine with Windows 2000 and
XP Media Center.

and https (s for secure) site? could be that you have ie7 on the new
machine and ie6 (or not fully patched version of ie7) on the old... if that
is the case then you have to add the site to yuor list of trusted sites.

No it's a site that uses the Flash Player to create a window. It then requires a login and
connects to a server. It's the Flashplayer window that doesn't work. It seems to login
okay but then it immediately disconnects me from the server every time. I've tried IE6,
Firefox 2 and Opera 9. On my Win2000 computer it works fine with Firefox 2 and Opera9.
Could there be some kind of security thing in XP Pro that is keeping me out?
I uninstalled the Comodo firewall and had the Windows firewall turned off. That didn't
help. I'm using the free edition of AVG 7.5 antivirus.
