I didn't read through all 36 responses to this thread so someone may
have already said this but here is my take...
- Beyond TV is much better than Media Center. I recommend using it
with the trial period to see if that gives you what you want.
- I don't know anything about the quality of the ATI tuner. I do
know that my Hauppauge tuners have always been excellent.

As ol**** said, you can Google for "Free TV". You didn't say that you
want it for free though but I think that's a good assumption.
For movies, Apple announced this week that all of the major movie
companies (6 of them) will allow downloads of their movies one month
after they are released on DVD. I think the price is either $2.99 or
$3.99. For more info. check the Apple site.

Oh and by the way, Hauppauge has probably the best support I've
experienced. My USB TV tuner was OK with the TV on Vista but the FM
radio didn't work. They offered to replace it for a newer model for
free.

Thanks, Tom. I've been wondering how to evaluate my 120 day eval copy of
WHS.
There is nothing wrong with Media Center for the application it was
intended for (a living room, connected to a TV). However, if you want
to use the computer as a computer, it's not a good interface. So turn
it off !!! Media Center is a variant of Windows XP Pro, and the XP Pro
standard desktop is still present. You can select between the standard
Windows XP Pro desktop and Media Center with a few mouse clicks, both as
to which is the "default" interface (the one that appears when you first
boot up) and you can also switch back and forth between them without
rebooting. You are complaining, it would appear, about having a choice,
because you don't like ONE of the choice and don't realize that the
other choice (the standard XP Pro desktop) is also present and available.
[It is possible, however, that ATI only supplied software to use the TV
tuner under the Media Center interface.]

If you think that spelling Media "M-E-I-D-A" is fine spelling, yours
sucks also.

From past work, $75.00 per drop plus server room/closet ammenities (Patch
panel and other materials, etc. Based on an average house at least a
$2000.00 from the look of it. But then some local cost vary.
