McAfee was automatically updating the security centre and the
programmes the other day.
Sometime during the downloading of one of the programmes, I lost my
Internet connection.
My question is: Would the download simply begin where it left off
previously? - once I re-established the Internet connection. Or, would
the download be corrupted.
If the latter, can I check to see if the programme has/has not
downloaded successfully?

Most likely the former. Additionally, if you're not seeing errors and you
have a broadband connection it's really no big deal.
To make yourself feel better, manually check for updates to verify you're
current.
As an aside, when the license on that product nears expiration you might
wish to return to this group and ask about alternative programs that may
work better for you.
